Dog Blog: Carolina In My Mind
Dear Diary,
Anytime I’m stuck in Big Red for too long, I’ll think of these James Taylor lyrics…
In my mind, I’m gone to Carolina
Can’t you see the sunshine?
Can’t you just feel the moonshine?
After that horrible Smoky Mountains park, we went to North Carolina to visit Dad’s uncle, Russ. He had a great big home for me to explore… plus two cats to terrorize befriend. Mom and Dad complained because the weather wasn’t great (humans are such whiners, amirite?!), but I had a great time! Every place here seems to love all the good boys, like me! Since the weather wasn’t good enough for my parents to do their outdoor activities, they went to a couple breweries (they sure love their beers) and ALL of the places had drinks for me too, even the places that had really delicious smelling food (I wasn’t good enough to get any of that, sadly… maybe next time!). I don’t remember it being like that back home… QC, step it up, otherwise I might NEVER come back!
After my parents saw a movie, The Greatest Showman (for only $3!) at Asheville Brewing Company, we went to this place called Battery Park Book Exchange where I got TWO treats from the book lady, and I got to wander the whole place while my parents drank champagne (my biscuits smelled a lot better than that).
The next day, I went to my first dog park! It had lots of trees and other dogs. I didn’t like them at first, but eventually they were okay. Their humans were still nicer though.
THEN, since the weather was still rainy and flooding, we headed to South Carolina which is JUST AS AMAZING! Dogs are welcome everywhere here too! The best thing was at Congaree National Park – I was allowed on ALL the trails with Mom and Dad. Then we camped there that night and we were the ONLY ones there! I did a really good job protecting my parents and the tent all night – I didn’t sleep a wink. My parents seemed annoyed but because of me, none of those pesky woodland creatures came near us. You’re welcome, HUMANS.
I’ve heard whispers that we’re going canoeing at Congaree tomorrow – and I think I get to go!!!! BEST PLACE EVERRRRRR!
So much love,
Luca
