San Francisco

San Francisco

On our way to Hawaii, we had a long layover in San Francisco. My chingu (Korean for friend – we met while teaching English in SK) Catie lives there and was such an amazing hostess and tour guide!

Catie lives in Nob Hill area, and we were starving when we showed up. She took us to Bandit for some burgers which were AMAZING. Definitely check it out if you’re ever in San Fran! We went to a bar for a couple drinks afterwards but were pretty tired so we went home pretty early.

The next day Mike and I had breakfast at MyMy, which Catie also recommended. Usually there’s a long wait I guess, but luckily the jet lag got us there bright and early!

Catie took us to Lands End for an incredible hike/walk along the ocean and you can see the Golden Gate Bridge. Fun facts from tour guide Catie: the bridge is constantly being painted and because of the number of people jumping off the bridge it was suggested to put a net under it, but the City said no because it wouldn’t be as pretty anymore.

We spent most of the morning there, and then checked out Buena Vista for Irish coffees. We definitely got distracted there and spent pretty much the rest of our time there. Besides the Irish coffees, our friendly neighbors suggested we try a Ramos – which was unbelievably delicious. And Larry, the old timey bartender who has been there since the 70s (he’s even on their website!) entertained us with his curmudgeon attitude and magic tricks! We grabbed a quick lunch at Ikes Sandwiches. Not to brag, but mine had flamin hot cheetos and jalepeno poppers on it…. it was heaven.

After Catie had Mike put together some IKEA chairs for her, we were out of there! Thanks again chingu for a wonderful 18 hours – can’t wait for the next, longer visit! Xoxo
